- 1ST PRIZE - Ben Booth from Otley, West Yorkshire. Ben wins a trial flight in one of our gliders, congratulations Ben!
- 2ND PRIZE - Flora Cartwright from Aldbrough St. John, North Yorkshire. Flora wins a flight in our state-of-the-art glider simulator. Well done Flora!
Thanks to all of our entrants, we had 616 entries in all during the Show. Sorry if you didn't win, but don't forget, you can come to the Club and have a Trial Lesson with a qualified Instructor (including 3 month's membership of the YGC) for just £80. You can even buy online!
Gliding in Yorkshire is something special. Whether you're a trainee pilot, a gliding pundit, or a member of the public wanting to try something new, the YGC is a great place to be. We're open 364 days a year, offer full-time professional instruction and maintain a fleet of modern gliders.
If you're new to gliding, why not buy a Trial Lesson voucher? This gets you a flight in a two-seat glider with an instructor, and will give you a taste of the sport. Trial Lesson vouchers make ideal Christmas or birthday gifts.
Many people are surprised at how little it costs to learn to glide, when compared to power-flying. Take a look at our Fees page for more information.
Our facilities are also second-to-none - our comfortable Clubhouse has a bar, restaurant and self-catering facilities. There are also bedrooms, toilets and showers for those wanting to stay with us.
We also offer gliding Courses, lasting one day or up to a week. These are designed to offer maximum training opportunities for those interested in learning to glide.
Glider pilots from other clubs are very welcome to visit us and sample our brilliant site, fleet and facilities. You're welcome to fly your own glider or ours.
IMPORTANT! In the interests of safety visiting pilots will be asked for logbooks and medical certificates before flying and to have a check flight if the CFI feels it is necessary. Please make sure you bring these if you wish to fly.

27/04/2008 - Why not buy a Trial Lesson Voucher online? We use PayPal, but you don't have to have an account with them to buy online. You can choose to use your credit/debit card if you wish.
23/04/2008 - The YGC will be 75 years old next year! We're planning celebrations including flying and lots of local events. Please e-mail us with your suggestions for celebrations!
23/04/2008 - The simulator is now in use! We've successfully done pre-solo training with it, as well as more advanced training and cross-country flying. See the simblog page for more details.
