Friday 6th to Saturday 7th September 2024

Friday 6th.  A light to moderate NE'ly was accompanied by mainly sunny skies but little in the way of lift as 19 ATs were flown off runway 06 with most landings on runway 02.  The day saw 6 First Flight pupils flown, with their flight times of around 20 minutes, among the longest of the day, a function of their greater release heights.  The longest flight was by Chris Teagle on his first flight in his newly acquired LS8t-18, his 25 minutes including an engine burn.

Saturday 7th.   Low cloud and bits and pieces of rain delayed the start of flying until the early afternoon as a light to moderate N/NNE'ly blew.  The weather remained generally overcast ,but with a cloud base that did not affect ATs to a maximum of 3,000' QFE, but lift remained elusive.  The day's 10 ATs off runway 02 were mainly to 1100' QFE, as the club welcomed visiting pilots from Stratford on Avon GC who  embarked on familiarisation flights, while YGC member flights were for circuit training.  Consequently all these flight times were below 10 minutes.  The exception was Adam Sayer's 19 minute flight with the day's only First Flight pupil, this being the result of a tow to 3,000' QFE
