Saturday 1st.  With the anticyclone remaining in place, it was another day of light winds, mainly from the SW/W and hazy sunshine, resulting in 18 ATs off runway 24 with landings on 20, the Falke contributing an additional 3 flights, one of which was a visit to and then a return from Breighton.  Weak thermal conditions allowed 6 flights to reach or exceed 30 minutes, with Toby Wilson in his Std Cirrus topping the list with an hour, as  he used a number of thermals to operate between 1400' and 2,400' asl, maximum average thermal strength being 1 kt.  John Marsh/Josh Jackson in the DG500 had 47 minutes during which they had a number of 500' climbs, with no one straying far from site. Bruce Grain/Amelia Forrester in K21 KLW, on their 2nd flight of the day, had a thermal climb to 3,300' asl, the best of the day, followed by some low level hill soaring on the main bowl at 300'-500' QFE to extend their flight to 47 minutes, some 15 minutes better than their 1st flight in the DG500 which had also involved soaring the SW'ly facing part of the  main bowl.   John Carter/Simona Latimer's 38 minutes in K21 JVZ was all down to thermal soaring, while Dave Watson/Kelly Teagle in JVZ made up the > 30 minute list with 31 minutes of thermal soaring in which they too reached 3,300' asl.
