Wednesday 9th. The centre of the high pressure had slipped south-westwards, changing the wind direction to a N'ly and bringing in an overcast which limited ATs release heights, so operations were limited to 4 ATs of runway 02 and 2 Falke flights. The longest glider flight of the day was for one of the two First Flight pupils, P1 Bob Calvert finding a weak thermal that kept them at around 800' QFE for the majority of their 17 minute flight in K21 JVZ, having had a tow to 1300' QFE. The other First Flight pupil had a 32 minute flight in the Falke with James Shaw exploring the local countryside.
This blog describes a snippet of life at the Yorkshire Gliding Club. Why not take a flight and try it yourself, or we can teach you to fly as a full club member.
