The premier gliding club in the North of England!
We are a year-round, 7 days per week BGA accredited gliding club situated on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors national park. We offer our members some of the best facilities in the country and our site provides the opportunity to experience gliding in all its glory. Our location ensures we benefit from the full range of soaring opportunities in thermal, ridge and wave. Our facilities and aircraft fleet are modern and well equipped, providing pilots of all levels with the opportunity to fulfil their gliding ambitions. In addition to flying our members, we host visitors from other gliding clubs throughout the year and provide First Flight experiences to approximately 750 members of the public every year.
Discounted Full Membership of the Yorkshire Gliding Club for first-flight customers!
Your first year of full-flying membership of the Yorkshire Gliding Club, available for only £350 (Subsequent years £490) when you have a first-flight experience with us and take out membership within 1 month of your first flight.
This includes:
- One year full-flying membership of the YGC and access to our modern glider fleet
- All instructor time is free - we can take you from first flight to solo and beyond
- Full use of club facilities
- Flying and airfield training record cards
Junior and Cadet Membership
The cost of learning to fly is something that seems to worry young people the most, rest assured our discounts for young people are comprehensive! We offer:
- Annual flying membership, reduced from £490 to £90 for under 21s, and £120 for those aged 21-24!
- Half-price flying-fees for instructional flights in all Club two-seat trainers!

We are a BGA accredited Junior Gliding Centre with robust safety and safeguarding policies. Check out the Juniors Group on Facebook and the British Gliding Association's Juniors page! Then, why not come and spend a day with us to see what we do?
Learning to fly at the Yorkshire Gliding club also provides you with access to over 80 years of collective gliding and flying knowledge. Not to mention, access to one of the best fleets of any British gliding club. Always dreamed of flying an aircraft solo? This package could see you well on your way to that goal!
