Friday 1st to Monday 4th December 2023

Friday 1st. Fog and low cloud briefly cleared around midday before returning as the light NNW'ly continued to blow on another cold day.
Saturday 2nd. The wind speed had dropped to become very light from the SE and while the Vale of York remained foggy after a very cold night, there was sufficient clear air near to the site to allow operations off runway 20 from late morning. Toby Wilson/James Prosser took an early low AT and were followed by 6 further launches, 3 of which were for First Flight pupils with James as P1, one for a Guest of Dean Crosby with Malcolm Morgan as P1, one for Dean in his LS10t and the final one for Toby Wilson/Sarah Stubbs, all the two seater flying being in K21 KLW. With tows to 2,500/3,000' QFE and no lift, flight times were in the range 17-20 minutes apart for Dean's flight in his LS10t, which he extended to 59 minutes by repeated use of his engine.
Sunday 3rd. Overnight snow with a legacy of low cloud and poor visibility in a light NE'ly and icy road conditions on the access road to the site meant there was no flying.
Monday 4th. A slow moving depression kept the site in cloud with rain from 6am throughout the rest of the day as the temperature climbed to a maximum of 4C and a moderate E'ly slowly decreased to light and backed into the NNE. Consequently, there was no flying.
