Friday 28th.  With a high pressure over the UK winds were light and mainly from the WSW but, unlike Thursday, skies were generally clear over and around the site with Cumulus over the Pennines.  14 ATs and a single Falke sortie were flown off runway 24 with landings on 20, with flights of 30 minute or more limited to 4.  2 of these, by Steve Scothern and Chris O'Doyle in their Discus bt, lasted 45 and 30 minutes respectively, Steve using local thermals to soar between 2,600' to 3,400' asl while Chris tried out his engine.   The other 30 minute flight was by James Prosser who took one of the 4 First Flight pupils of  the day for a trip in K21 JVZ.  The other soaring flight was by Bob Calvert who was aloft for 3:23 in his Discus 2bt.  After a post launch precautionary engine burn, Bob used convergence lift to venture over the North Yorks moors visiting areas around Hemsley, Church Houses, Egton Bridge and Carlton Bank before returning to site.  Some heather burning areas which generated some strong lift enabled Bob to climb to 6,200' asl  with Bob providing the following photo from his flight.
