Friday 31st January to Sunday 2nd February 2025

Friday 31st.  A weak and slow moving occluded front brought a low overcast, some early light rain and light and variable winds, so there was no flying.

Saturday 1st.  The wind had become a light to moderate S'ly but the low overcast persisted, so there was no flying.

Sunday 2nd.  The moderate S'ly slowly declined to light over the day but the overcast had been replaced by thin and patchy high cover that provided some hazy sunshine and allowed flying to commence off runway 20 around 1100 hrs, when Toby Wilson and Andy Wilson had 12 minutes in K21 JVZ.  Thereafter, 8 ATs and a single Flake flight were flown, with some weak lift/reduced sink off  the southern ridge extending some flights, none more so than the 43 minutes flown by Fred Brown and one of the 4 First Flight pupils of the day in JVZ.  Taking a 2,600' tow, Fred was able to stay within a 100' or so of his release height for around 10 minutes while soaring between Wass  and Husthwaite before commencing a slow descent to his landing.  Sarah Stubbs, with two more of the day's First Flight pupils, had the two next longest times, 26 and 24  minutes in K21 KLW, while Steve Thompson rigged his Ventus 2bt and had 21 minutes, although this included an engine burn.  The day's Falke flight was by Sarah Stubbs and Andy Wilson, a touch and go at Rufforth followed by a return to Sutton being their completed flight plan.
