Monday 3rd. A light to moderate S'ly blew all day under variable high, thin cover, so operations were off runway 20 with 8 ATs flown. Somewhat surprisingly, there was weak wave lift around, with 6 of the launches leading to flights of over 30 minutes, including one of over an hour, this being by Steve Thompson in his Ventus 2bt, although a lack of a Flarm trace means I have no details of his flight which lasted 3:42. The other soaring flights were all in either of the two K21s, with 2 of these dual and the remaining 3 solo. John Carter/Andrew Bedford took the first flight of the day in KLW and, after taking a high tow, climbed to around 4,000' asl over Gormire in their flight of 48 minutes. Later John and Mark James in JVZ found some zero/reduced sink some 2 km S of site that made for a very slow descent and a landing after 47 minutes. The 3 solo soaring flights were by Steve Ogden in KLW, 45 minutes, Polly Whitehead also in KLW, 48 minutes and Andrew Bedford in JVZ, 31 minutes, with Steve maintaining around 3,500' asl some 2 km to the W of site and Polly maintaining around 2,400' asl a little further south. Andrew initially maintained his 1,800' release height but with this lift disappearing, then found some reduced sink over the gulley to the east of the airfield. The day's flying was completed by 2 flights in the Falke by Paul Whitehead and Ian McFarlane.
Tuesday 4th. A weakening and SE'ly travelling cold front brought a lowering overcast and strengthening winds that veered into the SW as the front arrived around midday, so there was no flying.
