Sunday 7th to Monday 8th November 2021

Sunday 7th. A moderate to fresh and gusty WNW'ly lead to a weather flight, ie whether to fly or not. John Carter and Bruce Grain's 10 minute flight in K21 KLW off a winch launch convinced them it was not, so that was it for the day.
Monday 8th. Bright skies and a light to moderate ESE'ly opened the day but skies gradually clouded over and the wind veered to become a SSE'ly as an Atlantic front made slow progress eastwards. It was definately a gliding not a soaring day, as although 15 ATs were flown off runway 20, the longest flight was only 25 minutes this being by Dave Campbell as he opened the day's flying with Mr Truelock, a Day Course pupil, for the first of the latter's 3 flights. The next 3 flights for First Flight pupils were all around 20 minutes but thereafter, 1,000' launch heights were the order of the day behind Eurofox HETY with Dick Cole, Jim Mclean, Bruce Grain, Bob Beck, Andy Evans and Tony Drury and even Dave Campbell/ Mr Truelock being willing guinea pigs for the tuggies getting to grips with flying the turbocharged Eurofox.
This blog describes a snippet of life at the Yorkshire Gliding Club. Why not take a flight and try it yourself, or we can teach you to fly as a full club member.
