Monday 3rd:
The day took a while to get going but eventually it turned out to be a decent thermal soaring day. John Ellis was the exception to the thermallers using a cloud climb to 5000ft which was high enough to contact wave (again!) W of the A1. His TP's included Gardale Head and Kirkby Steven in a flight measuring 208km on OLC with a peak altitude of over 12000ft. Described on the ladder as "a cracking day out".
Rob Bailey used the best of the thermals to achieve 132km round fairly local TP's with cloud bases 4500 - 5000ft now and again. Other private owners enjoyed the conditions in the local area - it was good to see Howard Marshall's K6 amongst them.
The club 2-seater fleet was busy with 11 flights from the days total of 21 aerotows. The DG303 and the venerable Ka8 also joined in the fun.
Tuesday 4th: Sadly the low cloud and occasional light rain kept the gliders in the shed all day.
