Tuesday 5th.  The persistent anticyclone again produced blue skies and hot conditions as a  light to moderate N'ly slowly veered into the ENE.  A low inversion meant there were no thermal based soaring opportunities, so the majority of the day's 25 ATs, including 5 for First Flight pupils, were extended circuits with durations of 15-20 minutes.  Launches were initially off runway 20, but the change in wind direction led to a runway change to 06 around 1400 hrs, this continuing into the evening as the Tuesday evening group took over operations.  All 4 club 2 seaters were flown, but no single seaters, with some instructor training for 2 instructors from Pocklington.  Late in the afternoon, with the wind from the ENE and launches from runway 06, some weak low level wave set up downwind of  the main W'ly ridge, with Guy Hartland/Ian Roberts first to take advantage and extend their flight to 24 minutes.  Guy's next flight in K21 KLW with Chris Collard was the longest of the day, 31 minutes, as they maintained 2,600'-2,800' asl for a while in a beat from downwind of the clubhouse and north to Boltby, but no other subsequent flights found any wave activity. .
